Enable Youth Kenya is a programme by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Cooperatives through the State Department for Crop Development and Agricultural Research (SDCDAR) in partnership with the African Development Bank (AfDB). It aims at creating youth agripreneurers through skill acquisition and creating an enabling environment in which youth become owners of profitable agribusinesses.
This is undertaken through training, nurturing and mentorship in the Youth Agribusiness Incubation Centres (YABICs). There are a total of eight YABICs spread all over the country and specializing in different value chains. KSA is one of the eight YABICs specializing in poultry (improved indigenous and exotic chicken) and vegetable value chains.
The programme is already commenced and currently, the training service provider is planning for Training of Trainers (TOT) on coaching and mentoring technical resource persons at the School. Selection for target youths (accelerators and standards) is also going on.
