Kenya School of Agriculture (KSA) is a tertiary agricultural training institution under the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Cooperatives (MoALFC) in the State Department for Crop Development and Agricultural Research (SDCDR). It was established in 2011, to continue with the mandate of Embu Agricultural Staff Training (EAST) College which was converted to Embu University College (EUC) through a Gazette Notice Number 65 of June 17, 2011.
The history of EAST College dates back to 1947 as an Agricultural Training Centre (ATC) mandated to provide pre-service training to school leavers and graduate Junior Technical Assistants (JTA’S). In 1968, the Centre was renamed Embu Institute of Agriculture (EIA) and started admitting secondary school leavers for a two-year certificate training as Technical Assistants (TA’s). The institute was upgraded to EAST College in 1990 and charged with the new mandate of developing and implementing short management and technical courses, offering research and consultancy services to enhance performance in the agricultural sector.

In addition, KSA is accredited by Curriculum Development, Assessment and Certification Council (CDACC) to provide Competency-Based Education and Training (CBET) in long and short courses in various agricultural value chains on continuous and modular-basis.
