HELB Opens Applications for the Kenya School of Agriculture Students Financing Scheme 2026/2027

If you are joining the Kenya School of Agriculture (KSA) this academic year and wondering how to pay for it, here is some good news. The Higher Education Loans Board (HELB), in partnership with KSA, has opened first-time applications for the Kenya School of Agriculture Students Financing Scheme for the 2026/2027 financial year.

The deadline is 12 November 2026, so you have about a month to get your application in.

Who can apply?

The scheme is open to all students enrolled at Kenya School of Agriculture, across all its campuses, who are pursuing Craft Certificate or Diploma courses.

How to apply

The whole process is online and paperless. You do not need to print anything or deliver a physical copy.

  1. Go to the Student Portal. Visit www.hef.co.ke to register, create and activate your account. Use your personal mobile number, registered under your own name and National ID number.
  2. Register. Enter your National ID number and a valid email address, then create a password and click register.
  3. Activate your account. Open the activation link sent to your email. If you do not see it in your Inbox, check your Spam or Junk folder.
  4. Complete your profile. Log in and open the My Profile tab. Fill in the sections on Personal Information, Residence, Education, Institution and Parents, and upload all the necessary documents.
  5. Select the scheme. Go to the HELB menu, open the Loan Application tab, and choose Kenya School of Agriculture Student Financing Scheme.
  6. Give your consent. Review the personal data collection consent form and accept the loan terms and conditions.
  7. Add your guarantors. Fill in your guarantors’ details as requested.
  8. Submit. Send in your completed application online.
  9. Track your application. You can follow its processing status on the same portal.

A few tips before you start

  • Do not wait for the last week. Portals get busy close to deadlines.
  • Keep your National ID, email access and personal phone handy before you begin.
  • Gather your documents and your guarantors’ details ahead of time so you can finish in one sitting.
  • Make sure the phone number you use is registered in your own name. Using someone else’s number can cause problems with your account.
